The Effective Peacebuilding Initiative (EPI) is an independent nonprofit organization working to improve how the world understands and practices peacebuilding.
Despite decades of investment in peace efforts, knowledge about what actually helps reduce violence remains fragmented and difficult to apply in practice. EPI works to address this gap by strengthening the connection between evidence, decision-making, and real-world peacebuilding efforts. Through research support, evidence infrastructure, field analysis, and publications like the Global Peace Almanac, EPI helps practitioners, policymakers, and funders make more informed decisions in complex conflict environments.
We believe that more rigorous learning, better synthesis of knowledge, and more honest assessment can help improve efforts to prevent and reduce armed conflict worldwide.
As an independent nonprofit, EPI relies on philanthropic support to sustain and expand this work.
